Course Tag: A2 German course

A A2 German course is the second level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and builds on the foundations of A1. A2 is suitable for learners who already have a basic knowledge of German and would like to develop their skills in order to communicate better in everyday situations.


Aims of an A2 German course

  3. Read:
    • Can understand short, simple texts (e.g. letters, e-mails, advertisements, descriptions).
    • Can extract important information from texts such as timetables or menus.
  4. Writing:
    • Can write simple texts such as personal letters, e-mails or short stories about their own experiences.

Contents of an A2 German course

An A2 German course teaches:

  • Expanding vocabulary: topics such as leisure, travel, health, shopping.
  • Basic grammar:
    • Separable verbs (e.g. "get up", "go shopping")
    • Perfect (past)
    • Modal verbs (can, must, may)
    • Alternating prepositions (e.g. "auf", "unter" with dative and accusative)
  • Practical language training: mastering everyday situations, e.g. making an appointment or asking for directions.
