What is the AVGS?
The activation and placement voucher (AVGS for short, Section 45 SGB III) is a subsidy from the Employment Agency or the Job Center. It covers the costs of measures that improve your chances on the job market – for example, career orientation, application coaching, or the expansion of your professional and language skills. For you, this means: You pay nothing, the grant covers the full costs.
Who can get an AVGS?
An AVGS can generally be received by individuals who:
- are registered as unemployed or jobseeking (with the job center or the employment agency),
- receiving Bürgergeld or unemployment benefits, or
- are at risk of unemployment.
Important to know: The AVGS is a so-called discretionary benefit. Your contact person at the job center or employment agency decides whether you will receive it. A good argument during the discussion: The measure specifically improves your chances of getting a job.
In 4 steps to the subsidized course at DeLingvo
Step 1: Schedule an appointment
Schedule an appointment with your contact person at the Jobcenter or the Employment Agency and state that you would like to participate in an AVGS program—for example, for career orientation or skills enhancement.
Step 2: Apply for and receive AVGS
If your application is approved, you will be issued the voucher. Pay attention to the details on it: the objective of the measure and the period of validity are stated there. Redeem the voucher in good time – the validity is usually limited in time.
Step 3: Choose DeLingvo as the carrier
With the AVGS, you can come to us. We advise you free of charge on which of our measures matches your voucher and your goals, and we take care of all the formalities together with you.
Step 4: Get started – at no cost to you
After registration, you will start your program with us in Hamburg (Wendenstraße 29, right in City Süd) or, depending on the program, also online. Billing is handled directly between us and the funding provider.

No. With a valid AVGS, the Jobcenter or the Employment Agency will cover the full costs of the measure.
